Bio
Q: Where did you grow up?
I lived in Maryland until I was seven then I lived in Indiana until I was 24.

Q: When and why did you start playing guitar?
I was 22 and bored.

Q: What was the first song you learned on the guitar?
“Horse With No Name” by America. It was easy because the whole song is just two-finger chords on the second fret. The strumming pattern is what gets you though.

Q: What did you do before you recorded "Destination" in 2001?
I was a high school journalism teacher. I taught in Indiana, Texas, Ukraine (in the Peace Corps), and the Tohono O’odham Nation in AZ.

Q: Who are some of your musical influences?
John Denver, Indigo Girls, Yes, Dave Matthews, Simon and Garfunkel, Crosby Stills and Nash, Led Zeppelin.

Q: How long did it take you to produce “Subject to the Wind?”
I wrote the first song “Whatcha Gettin In2,” in April 2003. Because I recorded and produced it at home, I was able to take my time to write, record, and edit, edit, edit, edit, and edit, until I was happy with it. When I got sick of it, I could wait until I was inspired again to continue. My recording schedule was subject to the whim. ha ha.

Q: Where do you get your inspirations?
Girls, sunsets, faraway lands, animals, the news
.

Q: What do you do when you’re not playing or writing?
Maintain this website. Take nature photos. Study the night sky. Watch PBS. Crazy stuff like that.

Q: What are some of your favorite movies?
The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Vacation, Saving Private Ryan, Jaws, Psycho, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Graduate
